Milano, at the crossroad of the national and European railway system, can be reached from the main Italian cities via high-speed trains (the Frecce of Trenitalia and ItaloTreno) and Intercity trains. It is also an important crossroad for regional connections.

The main stations are:

Stazione Centrale FS – piazza Duca d’Aosta connection with underground lines M2 M3 where the main trains traveling abroad are also departing from. At the Stazione Centrale there is a luggage storage, as well as several services and a big shopping area

Stazione Porta Garibaldi FS – piazza S. Freud – connection with underground lines M2 and M5

Stazione Cadorna FN – piazzale Cadorna – piazzale Cadorna connection with underground lines M2 and M1

Stazione Rogoredo FS – Via Cassinis – connection with underground line M3

Milano offers various alternatives to move around. The city’s surface is not very vast, it is a plain area and this makes it easy to travel, by foot as well as by other means of transportation.

Milano is served by five subway lines.

  • Red Line M1: Sesto F.S. – Rho Fiera Milano / Bisceglie
  • Green Line M2: Gessate / Cologno Nord – Assago Milanofiori Forum / P.za Abbiategrasso Chiesa Rossa
  • Yellow Line M3: Comasina – San Donato
  • Blue Line M4 (under construction): from November 26th, 2022 are open the first 6 stops from Linate Airport to Dateo
  • Lilac Line M5: Bignami Parco Nord – San Siro Stadio

The system is supplemented by the Passante underground rail link which connects urban and suburban railway stations to the subway network.
